How are stereotypes formed?
Oversimplification, Categorisation and some form of Judgement.
Focusing on some feature, often one that exibitsthe cause of 'how they are'.
Negative impressions sometimes reinforced and repeated so often as to become 'true'.
Generalising rather than exploring the full range. The implicit personality theory says that some characteristics may be linked together.
Stereo types are not actual people, but widely circulated ideas or assumptions.
Stereotype is not always negative, it can sometimes be very positive.
Definitions
Stereotype- to characterise or regard something.
Archetype- an original pattern which all things of the same kind are copied.
